New Permit Requirements for Homebuilding Contractors in WI
Starting in the new year, obtaining permits will be a little different
The 2008 year will bring new
requirements for contractors according to the Wisconsin Department of Commerce. Homebuilding contractors may be required to
take a 12-hour series of courses and apply for a qualifier credential before
obtaining a permit. The new rules are
being issued according to the state contractor education legislation that
passed in April of 2006.
If you are planning on having a home
built in Lake Geneva WI in the coming year, be aware of the new requirements
for permits which will go into effect January 1st of 2008. Because obtaining permits is one of the
duties of a professional homebuilding contractor, it is not recommended that
homeowners apply for permits themselves.
Due to general efficiency in getting the job done, homebuilding
contractors should still be able to obtain a permit easily, but with higher
standards.
