New Permit Requirements for Homebuilding Contractors in WI

Starting in the new year, obtaining permits will be a little different

The 2008 year will bring new
requirements for contractors
according to the Wisconsin Department of Commerce. Homebuilding contractors may be required to
take a 12-hour series of courses and apply for a qualifier credential before
obtaining a permit. The new rules are
being issued according to the state contractor education legislation that
passed in April of 2006.

If you are planning on having a home
built in
Lake Geneva WI in the coming year, be aware of the new requirements
for permits which will go into effect January 1
st of 2008.  Because obtaining permits is one of the
duties of a professional homebuilding contractor, it is not recommended that
homeowners apply for permits themselves.
Due to general efficiency in getting the job done, homebuilding
contractors should still be able to obtain a permit easily, but with higher
standards.
