Village Board Rejects Change in Lakefront Zoning

The Village Board votes to keep current zoning for lakefront property

Last week’s Fontana Village Board meeting resulted in a rejection of
a proposal that would make it more difficult for lakefront residents to add a
second home to their property. The proposed
lakefront zoning change would require homeowners to have 65,340 square feet of
land for each home, rather than the previous 40,000; thus, with the current
system a property owner would need only 80,000 square feet of land to build a
second home on their property, rather than the proposed 130,680 square feet.

The Village Board chose to reject the proposal since they
have not had any major problems in the past 40 years with the current laws, and
the change would obviously create a negative reaction from the lakefront
property owners.
