Restoration Efforts for Lake Como have Begun

With Renewed efforts, several Environmental companies are working on preventing Erosion problems for Lake Como

This month the Lake Como Beach Property Owners Association
began efforts to address the erosion along the shores of Lake Como. Though there have been efforts in the past,
shoreline erosion has been an increasing problem to be addressed.  Lake Erosion reduces the depth of the Lake, and the amount of
property one may own there is also reduced; erosion also affects the lake’s
clarity and animal and plant life adversely.

Thus, the
association recently targeted the most problematic areas of the lake, to
prevent trouble with the effects of erosion interfering with the road and water and sewer
lines. The project has begun to preserve
645 feet of north shore land along Lake Shore Drive, starting with just a 2.5
mile area, with Creative Edge and Environmental Concepts mainly
working on the restoration project.

The project is expected to cost more than $61,000, and with
the fund-raisers and other help expected from the town, they should be able to
meet the costs, but will have to do restoration efforts gradually as funds
become available.
