City Council Reviews Parking Policy Again, Bringing Back Free Parking

The two-hour free parking will be reinstated in downtown Lake Geneva WI again, but with a higher ticket

The Lake Geneva City Council has made a decision to allow
two-hour free parking once again. The previous
parking policies allowed two-hour free parking, but at the start of this year
the city council decided to try something a little different by enforcing the
meters four months earlier than usual (i.e. January, rather than in the summer); but after complaints from the community, business owners, and commuters, the
city council decided to review the policy once again.

The idea behind changing the parking enforcement law was to
increase parking revenues, and the city council still needed to keep this in
mind in changing the policy again. While
the city council will allow two-hour free parking from November 1st
to April 30th each year, tickets for not paying meters will be $12
instead of the previous $10, and there will be increased efforts to make sure
the meters are paid when applicable. The
change in the ticket price won’t be in effect until the beginning of April.
