Geneva Lake Conservancy Post New Watershed Signs

The Conservancy hopes to raise awareness of protecting Geneva Lake's Watershed with these new signs

The Geneva Lake Conservancy is taking measures for residents
and visitors alike to take notice of the location of the watershed. Last Friday, Geneva Lake Conservancy
officials joined with Lake Geneva and Linn township to reveal the first
watershed signs installed in these communities. The signs are two-sided and they will be in 40 locations around the
lake, focusing on roadways and entrances. Although the precise location of the watershed is difficult to
determine, these signs will give a good idea where concern should be placed.

The watershed signs are the second phase of the
Conservancy’s watershed education program designed to make everyone who lives
or visits aware of the importance of protecting the beautiful Geneva Lake. Making children and adults aware that
anything put into the ground around the watershed designated by the new signs
will affect the quality of the lake and thus their well-being is the
Conservancy’s main priority.  This should
be an issue of concern for everyone as the quality of the lake will ultimately affect
the environment, health, the economics of the local businesses, and property
values.
