Among the great family activities to do in Walworth County this summer the creatively undertaken Lake Como Yacht Club’s fifth annual cardboard boat race is on the top of the list. The event will take place this Saturday the 26^th of July and be held in front of Freddie’s. The unique quality of this race involves participants designing and constructing boats made entirely out of cardboard, duct tape, and water-based paints; participants will race out about 50 feet from shore in their makeshift boats. 

Yacht Club members expect to see between 100 and 200 boaters taking part this year at noon to 4 p.m. for this challenging event. Even if you don’t want to participate in the race, coming to Lake Como for the spectacle is more than enough; the creativity of the contestants in designing boats to look like submarines, snowmobiles, bottles, or schooners is part of the fun.

There will be one racing category for adults and another for children and the top racers will receive cash prizes. Come on down this Saturday to Walworth County and experience the excitement of this unique event.
