Over the last few months, Grand Geneva resort representatives have been discussing the possibility of annexing into the city of Lake Geneva.  However, it looks as though the idea does not have enough City Council member support as of yet to move forward with a petition to start the annexation process.  According to Lake Geneva Regional News online, a recent ‘straw poll’ on the annexation matter revealed that they did not have at least six aldermen that were firmly in favor of annexing.

The Grand Geneva resort in Lake Geneva is the largest resort in the area and attracts a huge following of tourism, and thus, money into the city of Lake Geneva already.  Nevertheless, an annexation into Lake Geneva WI could bring an estimated $700,000-800,000 more via property and room tax revenues.  Though there are mixed feelings as to the pros and cons of the addition of this resort officially into the city boundaries, city officials will look into the matter more before moving ahead with anything.
