Abbey Dockominium Harbor Located in Fontana Wisconsin

Here’s possibly a new real estate term for you. Did you know that today you can purchase a Boat Slip on Lake Geneva in the form of a condominium, called a “Dockominium”?  These boat slips are located in Fontana on Geneva Lake adjacent to the grounds of the Abbey Resort in the Abbey Harbor.  They can be purchased in 3 different sizes depending on the size of your boat.  The largest size is called “AA” and is 44′ x 14′.  The middle size, “AB” is 30′ x 11′ and the smaller “C” size is 26′ x 8.5′.  They range in price currently today from $89,900 for the smaller size to $129,500 for the largest size.  This is a fairly unique concept allowing a boat owner to keep a boat on Lake Geneva and within the protection from the elements of the Harbor.  There is a bridge the boats need to be able to go under to get out to the main body of the lake, so sail boats would not be an option.  The height limit is approximately 12′ 6 “.  Click here to view the Abbey Marina FAQ page.

If you own or are considering the purchase of a home or condominium in the Fontana, Williams Bay or Linn Township areas on Lake Geneva, and have not been able to find the right combination of either a home or condominium that would have the immediate use of a boat slip, a Dockominium might be the perfect solution.  The annual condominium fees are affordable ranging in price from $861 to $2,072 per year, depending on the size of the boat and the annual taxes typically range from $750 to $1,600 based on slip size.

Positive Signs for the Real Estate Market

There was some more good news being reported this week about the national real estate market.  Home prices are expected to continue to rise modestly next year with the number of sales to continue to increase as well. The market has been aided by aggressive government intervention to keep mortgage rates low in an effort to bring more Buyers into the market.

It was an outstanding day in Lake Geneva today and I took the opportunity to get out on the lake late this afternoon in my kayak.  I’m not sure how many more days we have left this year to enjoy sunshine and temperatures like we had this weekend in the upper 60′s.  Kayaking is great way to enjoy being on the lake and to view some of the beautiful lakefront homes around the lake.  Another very enjoyable way to view some of the sights on the lake is to walk the lake path which goes all the way around the lake, a total of approximately 26 miles.

Water Skier on Lake Geneva on November 4th 2009

Here’s something we wouldn’t normally expect to see on Lake Geneva in the month of November.  This is obviously an avid water skiing enthusiast who put on the wet suit in order to take a late season spin around the lake.  It didn’t look like something I’d want to do, but I have been on the lake in my kayak in the past on both Thanksgiving and News Years Day.  The attractive set of buildings you see in the background is the Vista Del Lago condominium complex, one of the nicest condo developments with a location right on Lake Geneva.  The units there range from 2, 3 and 4 bedroom units, all come with transferable boat slips and many of them have very nice views of the lake.  The complex also has tennis courts and a recreation building with an indoor pool.  You can view here a list of what is currently for sale at Vista Del Lago.
