Lyons WI Residents Vote ‘No’ to Townwide Garbage Services

For homeowners in Lyons Wisconsin, the proposal of a hired townwide garbage hauler didn’t go over well at last Tuesday’s vote—with a resounding ‘no’ to the referendum.  The results of the vote mean that the town tax levy will not increase to the estimated $504, 250 for next year; in addition, the ‘no’ vote to the referendum will allow home and property owners in Lyons to retain their ability to choose their waste management services.

Town Supervisor Bill Henningfield, who was for the proposal of townwide garbage pickup, indicated that he believed that residents would be paying less if they paid their bill once a year in the long run.  However, it seems that residents voted it down at the expectation of having a possible addition of anywhere from $155 to $180 added to their real estate tax bills.
