Fontana’s The Abbey Resort Obtains Loan from Village for Renovations

In an effort to become more competitive in the resort market, The Abbey will be renovating their spa

Fontana Wisconsin’s The Abbey Resort is hoping to improve
business by making a $1 million renovation to their spa. The funding for the project will be, in part,
from a village loan of $500,000 that is to be paid back with incremental tax
revenue over the next 19 years; any amount that is not covered by the
incremental tax revenue will, of course, be the responsibility of the Abbey
Resort.

The village of Fontana expects to see an increase in room
taxes and the assessments to the Abbey Resort as well as its condominiums this
year.  The loan was approved during a
Village Board meeting last week, and Board members hope that this loan and the
renovations will help bring the Abbey back into play as an essential resort
option over its competitors.
